Dear Parents,
We have a rather calm day today on campus. Originally today should have been our field-trip day. However, our van got more important assignment (possibly related to the Olympics preparation). Therefore, our field-trip day was changed to July 11.
This morning, we did guang bo ticao and played Chinese yo-yo.
The restaurant we used to have lunches and dinners has closed in preparation for the Olympics. We've started having lunches and dinners at the Friendship restaurant (on campus) next to the Conference center.
After lunch, Wang Laoshi taught "abacus" to all and most of the kids could do the addition fairly quickly.
At 3 p.m., I asked the students to find answers to five questions about the Forbidden City through the Internet.
1) What is the structure of the Forbidden City? Name the two parts and indicate the basic elements of each part.
2) What are the functions of major halls (at least 3 halls)?
3) When was the construction of Forbidden City started? What was going on in Europe at that time?
4) How many emperors lived in Forbidden City? What dynasties were the emperors for?
5) How many rooms are there in the Forbidden City? (both legend and actual)
The students are more familiar with doing this kind of online research. So it went on smoothly.
Jay and Max were very serious about getting the right information recorded in the Field Trip Books.
So much for today!
