"YingHua in Beijing" Summer Language & Leadership Institute -> Staff

Bonnie Liao (Director). Bonnie is the Principal of YingHua Language School. A two-time marathon finisher and the mother of two, she has a very strong passion and dedication to Chinese education for youth. On weekdays she works as a VP in Management Science at Merrill Lynch. She founded the YingHua Language School in May 2002.


Lingle Wang (Co-Director). Staff teacher of Beijing Yanjing Professional Cultural School. Ms. Wang is a retired well-liked Chinese teacher with decades of teaching experience in elementary schools. She and three other teachers who also taught Chinese in YiB 2005 Summer will again teach Chinese in YiB 2008 Summer with more experience and more effective materials.
Leina Gong (Residence Teacher). Staff employee of Beijing Yanjing Professional Cultural School. Ms. Gong is a retired school administrator. She can sing and play piano. She is also knowledgeable about Chinese medicine and traditional remedies for minor symptoms and conditions.

Shuqi Wang (Co-Director). Chairman of the Board of Beijing DDKids Culture and Art Ltd. Shuqi (aka lao3-da1) is well-known to many Chinese children for her fun and educational children's magazines and various programs in training young reporters. She is energetic and enjoys outdoor activities. Her team organizes and manages the fourth week's YiB activities with children selected from a DDKids' summer training program.

Seeking 4 counselors from the U.S. Applicants must be graduating high-school senior or older. Must be fluent in Mandarin and English. Responsibilities include leading a group of 6-8 students in their daily routine and activities and helping out with whatever needed during the program. Must be responsible for the assignments. All room and board will be paid (excluding international airfare). Two half days (or One full day) off per week.

There will be two types of teachers: classroom instructors and live-in teachers. Chinese-speaking live-in teachers are responsible for students' day-to-day details and activities. Program counselors, who are bilingual graduating seniors or college students both from China and from the U.S., will organize and lead students' day-to-day activities. The ratio between live-in teachers/counselors and students will be 1:4 - 1:6.
